Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) may face a fine of up to 50,000 euros for influencing the election.
Berlin - Deputy Bavarian Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) made a serious mistake.
He violated the federal electoral law and may now face a fine of up to 50,000 euros.
What exactly happened?
The head of the Free Voters published a post-election survey on his Twitter account shortly after 4 p.m. with the comment “Please send the last votes to us!” The publication of post-election surveys, also known as “exit polls”, is permitted - but only after the end of the election at 6 p.m.
This is to prevent influencing the election.
However, Aiwanger (Free Voters) did not pay attention to precisely this important regulation.
