The former Catalan Prime Minister Carles Puigdemont, who was briefly arrested in Sardinia, will return to Belgium on Monday.
In Brussels, he wants to take part in a committee meeting in the EU Parliament.
But Puigdemont announced that it would return to Sardinia at the end of the week.
A court in Sassari wants to decide on an extradition request from Spain on October 4th.
The politician was the leading figure in the proclamation of Catalonia's independence from Spain in 2017. After his dismissal by the central government in Madrid, he went into exile in Belgium in October 2017 to avoid prosecution in Spain.
In 2019 he won a mandate in the EU Parliament, but his immunity was later lifted.
The 58-year-old was initially arrested in Sardinia on Thursday on the basis of a European arrest warrant, but was released on Friday.
