For more than seven hours, votes have been held in Regensburg and the Upper Palatinate.
But already now there is a lively voter turnout in the capital of the administrative district.
As the city reports on its website, the polling stations in Regensburg registered a turnout of 19.5 percent.
That may not seem like much, but if the proportion of postal voters is included, the city of Regensburg (as of 2 p.m.) comes to a participation of around 69 percent.

In the federal election this year, Bavaria's largest cities are
showing
a higher turnout.
In the state capital of Munich, almost 60 percent of voters had cast their vote by 11 a.m. on Sunday morning.
There the proportion of postal voters is particularly high.
A similar value was only reached around 2 p.m. in the last federal election in 2017.

The Regensburg polling stations reported a turnout of 4.8 percent by 10:00 a.m.,
but
including postal voters,
it was already 54.8 percent.
In Regensburg, according to the city, 105,973 citizens are entitled to vote, more than half (53,016) had requested postal votes.
In Ingolstadt it was 18.6 percent - without postal voting, as a spokesman for the local electoral office emphasized.

Currently, voters are still trickling into town halls in the Regensburg region and in the Upper Palatinate.
But slowly the rush is getting a little more.
