Schwerin - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is a sparsely populated state in northeast Germany.
1.61 million people live here on 23,211 km², an average of 69 per square kilometer - that is the lowest population density of all federal states.
In 2016, 38 out of 1,000 residents were foreigners and a further 30 Germans had foreign roots.
These are also the lowest values of all federal states.
In the 2017 federal election, 1,324,614 citizens were eligible to vote in “MeckPomm”.
On the day of this year's federal election, state elections will also take place here.
The outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel comes from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and will no longer run for the Bundestag.
