Seine-et-Marne: 300 travelers stranded in a train for more than three hours on line P near Meaux

A line P train going from Paris-Est to Meaux hit a person who wanted to end his life on Saturday evening. The train could not

It is an empty zone of inhabitants and dwellings.

It is in this sector, on the territory of the municipality of Isles-lès-Villenoy (Seine-et-Marne), 5 km from Meaux, that a train of the P line struck a person this Saturday, shortly after 8 p.m.

The three hundred travelers stayed on the train for more than three hours before it could reach its terminus.

The train had left the Gare de l'Est in Paris on Saturday at 7:31 p.m. It was while crossing an uninhabited area, along a quarry, that the train struck a man.

According to the gendarmes in the area, to whom the investigation was entrusted, the victim wanted to end his life.

She was killed instantly.

SNCF agents went to the site.

In these situations, the train conductor is relieved of his or her duties and passengers are invited to take another empty train which has arrived on the scene and has been specially chartered.

In other cases, coaches fulfill this mission.

But this Saturday night, that is not what happened.

No supplies on board

Because, one explains on the side of the SNCF, the area was "difficult to access". Impossible for the railway company to send buses on the spot to collect the passengers and lead them to the terminus, Meaux. As a result, the passengers stayed on the train for more than three hours. No refueling was offered to them. SNCF invokes the same cause: an area that is difficult to access for its agents. However, railway workers were still able to go to the scene to secure the area, again according to the railway company.

Trains going to Paris and those going to Meaux or Château-Thierry (Aisne) were also blocked.

But for the travelers concerned, things have been simpler.

They were able to take buses chartered by the SNCF between Lagny and Meaux (and vice versa) to complete their journey.

This also lengthened their travel time, but to a lesser extent.

At around 11:20 p.m., all traffic on this branch of the P line was able to resume normally.
