Geretsried - Fatal traffic accident on State Road 2069 in Geretsried (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district): A 64-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a collision with a female cyclist on Saturday.
The seriously injured 76-year-old Geretsriederin had to be flown to hospital in a helicopter after first aid by the rescue service.
Car driver brakes, motorcyclist starts to overtake
A 33-year-old car driver from Wolfratshausen was driving on State Road 2069 from the Tattenkofener Bridge in the direction of the B11 early on Saturday afternoon. Some distance away she recognized a cyclist who wanted to cross the state road at the level of Zehnerhüttenweg, reports Alexander Huber, press spokesman for the Upper Bavaria South Police Headquarters in Rosenheim. The driver reduced the speed of her Volkswagen - the motorcyclist from Gauting behind the car then started overtaking, according to the police. As a result, the Kawasaki rider collided with the crossing cyclist. Huber: "The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident, the 76-year-old Geretsriederin was seriously injured and flown to a hospital by rescue helicopter."
Fatal accident: Expert appointed to clarify what happened
An expert was commissioned to clarify the exact course of the accident.
The state road had to be closed for several hours.
The police estimate the total property damage at around 4,000 euros.
Among other things, two patrols from the Geretsried police station, an emergency doctor, emergency services, the Geretsried volunteer fire brigade and members of the crisis intervention team were on duty.
