Improving the living conditions of teachers, including their families with health insurance, increasing support for the Social Solidarity Fund, addressing the shortage of textbooks, especially in the countryside, providing schools with specialized cadres, and linking vocational education to the labor market are the most prominent demands of the participants in the Sixth Central Council of the Teachers’ Syndicate, which began its work today in the Teachers’ Syndicate in Damascus.

The participants called for accelerating the rehabilitation and restoration of schools destroyed by terrorism, addressing the shortage of teachers in all places, providing schools that suffer from an increase in the number of students with prefabricated rooms, paying monitoring and correction fees on the basis of the current salary, appointing workers as employees with annual contracts, providing the book to the student at the beginning of the school year, and raising the value of the medical prescription from 75 thousand to 200 thousand pounds as a result of the increase in the prices of medicines and a review of the decision to pay work compensation to the discharged.

They also demanded the creation of a third school for outstanding students in As-Suwayda, the reactivation of intermediate institutes to address the shortage of teachers, and the use of vocational industrial secondary schools to supply schools with all requirements, activate the vocational education subject, pay the salaries of teachers who have joined the science service, and continue to identify work centers for difficult humanitarian cases.

A member of the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, head of the Education and Pioneering Office, Yasser Al-Shoufi, stressed in his speech that the education process is always evolving and renewable, and the educational process in Syria is integrated, where an integrated team of educators, the teachers’ union, the Vanguard Organization and the Revolutionary Youth Union work in it.

In response to the participants’ questions and inquiries, the Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, stressed the importance of relying on competencies within the framework of the administrative reform project, and that the ministry seeks to increase the value of compensation provided to the union to 300 million to support the Social Solidarity Fund and follows up on the issue of vacancies, as it works to address the shortage of employees in schools from During the three-month contracts, coordination with the Ministry of Administrative Development will be done to announce a competition for the third, fourth and fifth categories as soon as possible.
