At least three people were killed and another 50 passengers were injured when a train derailed last night (Saturday) in the state of Montana in the United States. Several cars of the national railway company "Amtrak" got off the tracks near the town of Joplin, yesterday afternoon.
Authorities said about 141 passengers and 16 crew members were on a train traveling on the Chicago-Seattle line. The U.S. National Transportation Agency has announced that it has begun investigating the circumstances of the accident, one of several that have plagued the railroad company in recent years.
In the photos from the arena, inverted carriages and objects scattered on the ground were seen. Megan Vanderwest, one of the passengers on her way to Seattle, told the New York Times that she woke up at the time of the accident, which felt like "an extreme air pocket on a plane."
Republican Sen. Steve Dayan, who represents Montana, tweeted that "we are closely monitoring the situation." I thank the success teams in the arena and pray for their safety for all involved. "
