What is home?

The five adult education centers in the Pfaffenwinkel wanted to know this from amateur photographers from the region and called for a photo competition on the subject of “home”.

After a delay of several months, the exhibition is now starting.

Penzberg -

More than 55 photographs had been submitted by mid-December of last year.

A jury then selected twelve winning photos (we reported).

However, due to the corona pandemic, their photographers have not yet been recognized for their photos, nor has the traveling exhibition with twelve large-format photographs been shown to the public.

Both have now been made up for on Friday with a vernissage in front of the VHS rooms in the Penzberger Rathauspassage.

Here the pictures can now be viewed by passers-by for a month.

Penzberg is the starting point of the traveling exhibition, which will move through the district over the next few months.

Traveling exhibition starts with a ceremony in Penzberg

At the small ceremony, the director of the Penzberg Adult Education Center Katja Wippermann praised the performance of the amateur photographers.

She was also delighted with "the great response" that the competition had generated.

Young people as well as older people took part, women as well as men.

The motifs were also chosen very differently: the large-format paintings show morning and evening moods, summer and winter impressions, bodies of water, animals and photographs on the subject of customs.

So also the winning photo of Sonja Lantenhammer from Sindelsdorf: In black and white, she photographed Trachtler from her town, who run happily laughing across a meadow.

The musical instruments shouldered, the mountains in the background.

“Home” is what Bruno Schäfer called his picture, with which he took fourth place in the photo competition.

Both Lantenhammer and the other four winners have been passionate photographers for years, as they say.

Bruno Schäfer, for example, is only out and about with a camera.

“Except in the toilet and in bed.” He thinks: “We live in the most beautiful area there is.” And he just always has to photograph this area with its landscape, the many small churches and special moments.

For Penzberg's VHS director Wippermann, the photographs show very well what home is: namely, “a connection between a place and a feeling.

A feeling of landscape and relationships. "
