Homs-Sana

52 paintings, during which young men and women enthusiasts of expatriate embodied in all its cruelty, meanings and dimensions within an exhibition called by the Association of Friends of Expatriates in Homs in the Hall of the Union of Fine Artists in the city.

The paintings reflected various schools of art, including realism and cubism, but most of them adopted the symbolic method because the issue of alienation has a profound impact on souls and bodies, as each participant did not forget to leave under his painting a written phrase that summarizes the pain of alienation with all its meanings and effects.

In the painting of the young woman, Sana Al-Hussami, she recounted the suffocation of man from exile and his tears trying to save what was left of his soul, while other faces awaited the time and others awaited the return of the present absent.

The moment of farewell was painted by Salam Tulaimat in an eternal embrace and in warm colors. As for Ruby Deeb, her painting reflected the bitterness of alienation, and her tongue says the alienation of the heart is more bitter than the alienation of the homeland, while in her other painting the features of the faces faded due to abandonment and nostalgia.

As for the young woman Sirin, the phrase “the expatriate in America,” her paintings reflected nostalgia for the homeland through a female face with teary eyes covered in black, while her second painting reduced the image of the house and garden that loved ones abandoned long ago. The memory of the participants presented works full of nostalgia, longing and belonging, as in the painting / Lynn Aad / 14 years old, and also about the traveler whose body and soul remained rooted in the homeland, while his back was burdened by alienation to the point of bending, as in the painting of the young woman Inji Ibrahim.

Eng. Bashar Khuzam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Expatriate Friends Association in Homs, indicated in a statement to SANA Cultural Bulletin that the exhibition coincides with the anniversary of the departure of the plastic artist Bassam Jubaili, a member of the Union of Plastic Artists and the former president of the association, and in support of the young amateurs of Syria at home and abroad, encouraging them and taking care of the talented and distinguished among them.

It is noteworthy that the Association of Friends of Expatriates in Homs was established in 1973 and aims to establish bridges of communication with Syrian expatriates in all countries of the world with the aim of perpetuating and strengthening their family and national ties.
