The cameras at the Kafit restaurant in Jerusalem documented the thief, who also had a scar on his head.

About two weeks ago, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, security cameras documented a thief breaking into the Kafit restaurant in the German Colony in Jerusalem, a well-known and well-established institution in the capital.

The burglar stole cash and checks from there, leaving behind destruction, before fleeing the scene.

The cameras also recorded unique physical signs, which helped police investigators locate and arrest the thief.

The suspect, by the way, denies any connection to the suspicions leveled against him, but the DNA at the scene also placed him at the crime scene.

The incident occurred while the restaurant was closed.

The suspect arrived at the scene around 21:00, broke down the front door and went inside.

Unfortunately, he was injured by the glass on the front door and bled to the floor.

This did not stop him from uprooting the safe and cash register that were in place, and emptying all the cash and checks that were there.

Moriah station investigators who arrived at the restaurant collected the restaurant’s security cameras, and after watching them they noticed that there was a unique tattoo on the thief’s right arm.

On top of that, they saw a scar on the back of his head.

At the end of several investigative actions, the suspect was apprehended and arrested.

It later emerged that he had 11 previous convictions for weapons, property, violence and assaulting a police officer, and that only last month he was released on administrative release from prison - three months ahead of schedule.

The suspect denied the suspicions against him and claimed he was at all elsewhere when the burglary occurred.

Investigators, on the other hand, believed that the unique tattoo and scar on the suspect's head were sufficient to place him at the scene of the burglary.

Their information was substantiated with the arrival of the results of the DNA test taken from the blood left by the thief at the scene, which indicated that it was indeed a suspect who had been arrested. Yesterday an indictment was filed against him and his detention was extended.

The Israel Police stated that a lot of resources are being invested in the fight against property offenders and burglary offenses in particular.

This is one of the goals set by the Jerusalem District Commander, Superintendent Doron Turgeman, for the police units in the capital and is carried out around the clock with a variety of means in order to maintain public peace and property.
