After counting most of the votes, Robert Habeck won a direct mandate for his party for the first time in Schleswig-Holstein.

According to the district administration, the federal chairman of the Greens was on Sunday evening in the constituency of Flensburg-Schleswig with 27.7 percent of the first votes, well ahead of the CDU member of the Bundestag Petra Nicolaisen, who was 23.9 percent.

It was practically impossible to catch up with the lead.

In the late evening 282 of 304 voting districts were counted.

Habeck himself has already declared himself the winner.

"I am overwhelmed by the trust that has been placed in me," said the head of the Greens.

“It is a privilege to represent constituency one, my homeland, as a directly elected member of parliament.

I will do everything I can for the region in Berlin. «The former Schleswig-Holstein Environment Minister has been leading the Greens since 2018 together with Annalena Baerbock.

Habeck's party colleague Cem Özdemir also won his constituency.

After all votes were counted, the former party leader won the direct mandate for the Greens in Stuttgart.

According to the city, he prevailed on Sunday evening in the Stuttgart I constituency against the CDU MP Stefan Kaufmann.

Up until this general election, only the CDU and SPD had won direct seats in Baden-Württemberg.

Other Green candidates also prevailed in their constituencies: Zoe Mayer Gruene won in Karlsruhe, Chantal Kopf in Freiburg.

Canan Bayram was way ahead in the Berlin constituency of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.

After counting most of the electoral districts, the same was true for Sven Lehmann in Cologne.
