The Chief Secretary for Administration, Li Jiachao, attended the matchmaking meeting between the Mainland and Hong Kong on epidemic prevention and control yesterday (26), and explained the progress when he met with reporters today (27).
He pointed out that mainland experts have a positive attitude towards customs clearance between the two places. At present, what the Hong Kong government needs to do is to ensure that there is a system that can quickly block up individual cases without causing additional health risks.
He will submit a report to the Chief Executive later and start the second matchmaking meeting as soon as possible.

Li Jiachao mentioned that the mainland did not put forward any very specific conditions for customs clearance, but felt that the other side had a positive attitude when exchanging views. He described the meeting as "a good foundation has been established." The general principle is to ensure that the two places will not bring the other side after customs clearance. Additional health and safety risks, so each other will do their own work.
He pointed out that what Hong Kong needs to do next is to ensure that if there are individual cases, "there can be effective measures to stop the cases from coming out and effectively prevent the spread of the community."
Li also mentioned that the Hong Kong government is a responsible government, and the joint prevention and control work must be done well. It is not hoped that the risk will increase due to customs clearance. The epidemic will always repeat itself at any time, and the mutation of the virus will also bring risks.
He described that mainland experts fully understand that Hong Kong has its own system, and confirmed that Hong Kong has achieved 40 consecutive days of local zero clearance and has established a good foundation to move towards customs clearance.
He pointed out that the second matchmaking meeting will be held as soon as possible, calling on everyone to "not be too pessimistic, but also face the reality. It takes time to communicate."
