Alexander Dobrindt won the direct mandate in the Weilheim constituency by a large margin and made the leap to Berlin again. Alexander Dobrindt won the direct mandate in the Weilheim constituency by a large margin and made the leap to Berlin again.

But he could not disconnect from the worst result of the CSU since 1949 - the 41.9 percent is a low point for him too.

It is still unclear whether other candidates from the constituency will move into the Bundestag.

District - Alexander Dobrindt cast his vote casually in a blue jacket in the morning in Peißenberg, after which he went to Berlin, where he appeared in a suit and, as the CSU top candidate, was quickly a popular interlocutor: In the ARD he was already after the questioned the first prognosis about the election outcome and was in a positive mood, because the catch-up race of the recently far behind Union had been successful.

Afterwards he could be seen next to Prime Minister Markus Söder, but he and especially his helpers always kept an eye on the results at home.

Dobrindt satisfied with the result

At 6:37 p.m. the first, of course, not yet representative result from the polling station in the village community center in Oderding, which saw it with 38.8 percent of the first votes and the CSU with 32.4 percent of the second votes - that meant the jump for the sixth time Having made it into the Reichstag, but at the same time significant losses compared to the 2017 election. But the arrows quickly shifted upwards. In the end, he landed with 41.9 percent of the first votes - Dobrindt was satisfied with that. Because the prognoses were much worse, they made a good final spurt. "The result shows that my commitment to transport projects, the armed forces or small and medium-sized enterprises, for example, is appreciated by the voters."

Dobrindt, together with Prime Minister and party leader Markus Söder, will have a decisive say in the upcoming coalition negotiations and is again aiming for the office of CSU regional group leader, which will be decided in the parliamentary group on Tuesday.

"I have the will to be chairman of the CSU in the Bundestag again," said Dobrindt.

SPD candidate Sigrid Meierhofer is very satisfied with her performance and with the fact that “we have contributed to the SPD becoming the strongest party in Germany.

That's great. ”She almost matched Enrico Corongiu's result four years ago, and from a much worse starting position.

Meierhofer was a bit disappointed with Dobrindt's clear victory.

"My goal was that he let a lot more feathers and that there should be a greater migration of voters to the free voters."

Greens had hoped for more

Green candidate Elisabeth von Löwenbourg-Brzezinski wanted to bring the positive to the fore. "We hoped for more, but we are satisfied with the result because we have improved significantly in the constituency," she said at the election party of the Greens in the Gasthof Stern in Seehausen. In return, she is pleased about the large increase in members and the encouragement she received during the election campaign. "I would like to thank the hundreds of campaigners from the bottom of my heart who were with me in the constituency at the information booths, handing out flyers and talking to people about green politics." before she knows whether it was enough for her to move into the Bundestag.

In a similar mood was Gerrit Huy, who came yesterday with around 80 members and friends of the AfD to the Weilheim “shooting range” to cheer for the election count in front of the television. After the first extrapolation at 6.43 p.m., when the AfD rose from the eleven percent of the forecast to 11.3 percent and the two big parties ended up below 25 percent, there was prolonged applause. But Huy was still cautious about her personal goal: With her 12th place on the list in Bavaria, her success is not yet certain. She expected that the postal vote counting could change the result.

In the event that she moves into the Bundestag, she wants to work for better care for pensioners and families.

Families should receive a one-off child benefit of 20,000 euros.

It also wants to reduce migration costs and German EU contributions.

What is very important to her is “more transparency in spending”, and this at “all levels”, from the federal government to the municipalities, in order to “reduce waste”.
