The day before the election, FDP leader Christian Lindner once again gave his party a good deal against the political competition at an election campaign event in Düsseldorf, but also showed a clear tendency as to which coalition he would most like to join.

Federal election 2021: Lindner speaks out in favor of Jamaica - Union alone "not strong enough"
The Free Democrats could tip the scales in a traffic light coalition with the SPD and the Greens as well as in a Jamaica coalition with the Union and the Greens. However, the 42-year-old made high demands for the FDP to join a coalition. With a view to a possible traffic light coalition, Lindner said that there would be no “red tax increases” or “green debts” with the Liberals.
Basically, Lindner seems to prefer a Jamaica coalition to a traffic light alliance anyway.
"I'm just promoting all the votes for the FDP and I hope that we will become so strong that a Jamaica cooperation can lead this coalition to the center," said the FDP boss in an interview with

"The Union alone would presumably not be strong enough to reject left-wing concerns of the Greens," continued Lindner.
Federal election 2021: Lindner counters Markus Söder - "do not infer from others"
Lindner then also addressed clear words to CSU boss Markus Söder. The Bavarian Prime Minister had recently criticized the FDP and Lindner because they could make a traffic light coalition possible through their “availability through offices”. Several CDU politicians had previously urged the FDP to categorically exclude a traffic light coalition. “Dear Markus Söder, I could have been Vice Chancellor for four years. When it comes to seduction through offices, one should not infer others from oneself, ”Lindner countered the CSU chairman.
For months now, Lindner has made no secret of the fact that he would like to become finance minister in a future federal government.
Voters will know from 6 p.m. whether the FDP's participation in government is an option, when the first forecasts of the election results of the federal elections are published.
Then it is clear which coalitions would have at least an arithmetical majority in the Bundestag.
