The SPD won the federal election based on the results of the counting of all constituencies.
For the first time in several years it increased again and came to 25.7 percent, as was evident on Monday night on the homepage of the Federal Returning Officer.
The CDU / CSU, on the other hand, fell after 16 years in government of Chancellor Angela Merkel with 24.1 percent to a record low.
The Greens achieved the best result in their history with 14.8 percent and were the third strongest force.
The FDP improved to 11.5 percent.
The AfD slipped from third to fifth place with 10.3 percent.
The left fell to 4.9 percent.
