The direct candidates of the CSU in the Upper Palatinate were able to defend their mandates.

However, with severe losses compared to the previous year.

Regensburg - The winner after the election evening in the Upper Palatinate *?

Clearly the Christian-Social Union.

Despite enormous losses, the party was able to defend its direct mandates in each of the four constituencies.

With 33.7 percent of the votes, the CSU is far ahead in the Upper Palatinate with the second votes.

That is still 7.3 percent less than in the 2017 federal election. The SPD follows with just 18.8 percent.

The AfD is the third strongest party with 10.9 percent.

Federal election 2021 in the Upper Palatinate: CSU grabs all direct mandates again

In the Regensburg * constituency, Peter Aumer (CSU) won the direct mandate with 35.5 percent of the vote.

In the 2017 federal election, he had reached 40 percent.

A loss of almost five percent.

Nevertheless, he was well ahead of the SPD direct candidate Carolin Wagner, who reached 16.6 percent.

Just behind is Stefan Schmidt of the Greens with 15.3 percent.

Albert Rupprecht (CSU) also defended his direct mandate in the Weiden constituency.

He got 38.5 percent of the vote.

This means a loss of 7.8 percentage points compared to 2017.

Ulrich Grötsch from the SPD follows with 22.5 percent.

The former general secretary of the Bavarian SPD will remain in the Bundestag.

In the constituency of Amberg there is a new face for the CSU in the Bundestag.

Since Alois Karl ended his political career, Susanne Hierl now follows him to the Bundestag.

She won the direct mandate with 40.3 percent of the vote.

A loss of 7.4 percent compared to its predecessor in 2017. Johannes Foitzik from the SPD got 16 percent of the vote.

This is followed by free-voter candidate Daisy Miranda with 12.1 percent.

Top candidate Peter Boehringer from the AfD moves into the Bundestag via the list.

CSU has suffered the greatest losses in the Schwandorf constituency

CSU member Karl Holmeier won the direct mandate in the Schwandorf constituency in 2017.

This time, however, he could not be set up.

Martina Englhardt-Kopf competed for the Christian Socialists.

She won the direct mandate with 35.1 percent.

That meant a minus of 13.4 percentage points.

According to Englhardt-Kopf, the higher number of direct applicants in the constituency is one of the reasons.

In addition, as a new candidate in this large electoral district, she first had to build up a level of awareness, which meant a much more difficult starting position, as the

BR

reports.

Marianne Schieder followed in second place with 22.8 percent of the votes.

The third strongest direct candidate was Christian Benedikt Schindler from the Free Voters with 15.8 percent.
