District - Florian Hahn (CSU), Anton Hofreiter (Greens) and Korbinian Rüger (SPD) have an election campaign behind them that has led the direct candidates to their personal limits.

The campaigns of the three most promising candidates repeatedly got caught in the wake of the nationwide survey figures - sometimes they felt cold, sometimes warm currents.

Hahn had to worry in the meantime

At the beginning of September it looked dark for Florian Hahn.

His strategy: "Keep fighting properly." A marathon through the 29 district municipalities lies behind the CSU MP.

Even his foot, which was broken in the meantime, did not stop him.

For the past five weeks, Hahn has stood at one of the many S-Bahn stations in the constituency from 6.30 a.m. on weekdays and distributed flyers with helpers from the CSU local associations.

“You are much more up to date than when you speak into a video camera.” Hahn is in the street election campaign, but it initially fell flat due to the corona.

The 47-year-old has experience with election campaigns, three times he has won the district directly.

But this time he had to fear in the meantime.

The pandemic made everything difficult on its fourth attempt.

New Year's receptions and Keferloh Monday were missing

“The New Year's receptions and annual general meetings in the local associations to mobilize and prepare their own party were missing.” The classic large-scale events with “a candidate for Chancellor Markus Söder in the beer tent, typically on Keferloh Monday,” says Hahn, said that would still have been outside the box made more visibility.

Under these conditions, Hahn offered more digital formats.

“From my point of view, it went quite well at the beginning because it was new.

The people were happy that something was going on at all. "

"We hooked each other up and encouraged each other"

On the final meters, Hahn got prominent support from Markus Söder and Jens Spahn.

He could use a tailwind.

“The many rainy days at the beginning of September were the low point.

When you're standing at the S-Bahn in heavy rain, people are annoyed, and the polls are still in the basement at times. ”His team was really great.

"We hooked each other up and encouraged each other."

Anton Hofreiter was far less present in the district than his competitors.

“I don't think anyone will hold it against him,” says campaign manager Volker Leib.

“He is one of the five top politicians of the Greens who are developing their potential in the federal election campaign.

We are proud to have such a top candidate. "

The hype about the Greens has "subsided a little", says Leib, "but the number of members continues to rise, the commitment at the grassroots level is unbroken." "Especially now!"

“We defined our strategy together and discussed all the steps,” reports Volker Leib.

The climate issue was clearly the focus of the Greens, they are increasingly relying on Instagram and Facebook.

Bad weather on the only day of shooting

The district Greens also shot a few videos with Anton Hofreiter, for example how he takes the S-Bahn to Munich on his old way to school from Sauerlach.

"We only had one time slot for the shoot," says Volker Leib, "and the weather was bad there, of all places." Nevertheless, Leib thinks, "the videos have become very personable."

Korbinian Rüger and his team are mutually beneficial

Korbinian Rüger caused the biggest surprise.

In May, the 32-year-old stepped into the breach when Bela Bach withdrew her candidacy.

This belatedly started fight for the direct mandate seemed hopeless for the almost unknown Planegger at the beginning.

What the SPD then experienced with the university lecturer for practical philosophy, nobody had dared to dream.

After the first posters had been hung up and several online events had run, "we received an incredible amount of great feedback," reports campaign manager Ramona Greiner.

Beer garden tour, information booths, front door election campaign - Rüger hung in, listened and easily came into contact with people.

The candidate and the team had "mutually beneficial", notes Greiner, "the appointments with Korbinian were a lot of fun."

Married couple change their minds at short notice

The SPD election campaigners, who had already suffered completely different times full of frustration and disillusionment, experienced a real run.

“Korbinian is incredibly popular,” reports Greiner.

She tells of a couple who Rüger met a week ago at an information stand in Sauerlach.

“After that, they really wanted to give him their vote.

They then threw away their completed postal voting slips that were still at home and got new documents from the municipality in order to vote for Korbinian. "

At the same time, the upswing of the Federal SPD Rügers Tour.

The polls are good for the comrades.

Opportunities are opening up.

In the final spurt, the SPD candidate completes five to six appointments a day in the district.

The local clubs are practically scrambling for him, he can't even answer all of the questions.

Rüger has won a lot of sympathy.

The next candidacy - maybe for the European Parliament - can come.

"We have laid a good foundation," says Ramona Greiner with satisfaction.
