The instant messaging application Signal failed at about 11:05 am on September 27th, Hong Kong time, and users in many places around the world were unable to send messages for a time.
Signal said at about 4 pm that the service had returned to normal.
Signal posted on Twitter that the failure was caused by a server hosting interruption.

British Reuters reported on the 27th that Downdetector.com, a website reporting network service failures, reported that 1,308 reports of affected users were received at the peak.
