The Greens are very happy.

The first transgender people move into the German Bundestag.

Also there: Tessa Ganserer from Nuremberg.

Nuremberg - she made it.

Tessa Ganserer and Nyke Slawik are the first transgender women to enter the Bundestag.

The Greens achieved over 14 percent in the Bundestag election * in Bavaria and are thus celebrating the best election result in years.

For 40 years to be precise.

"It's a historic evening," said the Green politician to the

Federal election in Nuremberg in 2021: Tessa Ganserer fought for a direct mandate in Nuremberg-North

Ganserer (Greens) was set up with Sebastian Brehm (CSU) and Gabriela Heinrich (SPD) as a direct candidate in the constituency of Nuremberg-North. On the ballot paper, however, Ganserer was still under her discarded name, which bothered her very much. On the evening of the election, Brehm won the direct mandate with a clear 28.4 percent. Ganserer and Heinrich fought an exciting race for second place on election evening. The Green politician finally won it with just 22.6 percent compared to 21.9 percent. With the Greens in Bavaria on the list, Ganserer is now moving into the Bundestag. “I'm still overwhelmed, but I'm really looking forward to my new job in Berlin!” She tweeted on Monday morning.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the trust shown by the voters.

She thanked her from the bottom of her heart for the “trust of the voters”.

At the end of her message, she sends her congratulations to Nyke Slawik, who will move from NRW to the Bundestag for the Greens.

Tessa Ganserer: "The old way of thinking in Germany was punished"

Ganserer has been a member of the Bavarian state parliament since 2013.

She came out as a trans woman three years ago.

She advocates climate protection and the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans- and intersex people.

The election result shows her that something is happening in Germany: "The election evening clearly shows that the old way of thinking has been punished in Germany, and it is simply time to do something for the rights of queer people in Germany," says Ganserer the

.

She is therefore very pleased to be bringing her issues forward in the German Bundestag over the next four years.
