In the Al-Basel Specialized Hospital in Al-Zahraa neighborhood in Homs, the first caesarean section was performed for a woman infected with the Corona virus who gave birth to a healthy baby without the virus.
The director of the hospital, Dr. Ali Jabr, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the 27-year-old woman who works as a midwife in the hospital’s surgical care department was infected with the Corona virus on the 23rd of this September and entered the isolation care with acute respiratory failure with hypoxia (75).
He added that after conducting the necessary consultations and examinations, the woman underwent emergency surgery last Friday, when she was at the end of her eighth month, during which she gave birth to a healthy baby boy who was placed in incubators for monitoring, pointing out that the mother's condition is currently stable in the hospital's isolation department, which consists of 12 beds, and she is gradually recovering.
