Tradition is tradition - even if it is lived a few months late.

As with the September tree from Leonhardsbuch.

Allershausen / Leonhardsbuch

- In the past year and a half, the Leonhardsbuch maypole and village community needed a lot of patience until the maypole planned for 2020 could still be erected. On Saturday, the white and blue status symbol, which is actually a September tree, was put up - at a time when everything is different. The time is not yet ripe for a big village festival with hundreds of guests. Around 100 onlookers watched the 30-meter-long and 1.4-tonne tree being hoisted up with a crane. The road closure also meant that the buses were massively delayed in both directions. Bavarian traditions have right of way.

After setting up, a little helpers party was celebrated with around 35 active members who, after the maypole theft by the boys of Allershausen and Massenhausen (we reported), then reinforced the guard. "Now everyone is again sensitized to the maypole watch", said Thomas Sedlmair, the chairman of the maypole and village community Leonhardsbuch. You haven't been annoyed about the theft for a long time, "because the thieves weren't too bad either". With a grin he said that there would be another party. The association now had to set up the maypole because the tree had actually been planned for 2020 and then the date had been postponed to May 1, 2021.

The wood, which is now very dry, would probably not have gone through any further waiting until May next year.

In the Leonhardsbuch district of Allershausen, the maypole usually stands for three years if no damage is found during the annual inspections.

If everything goes normally, the corona-related September tree should be replaced by the successor on May 1, 2024 after around two and a half years.
