- A construction site is moving into the Waller parish church: As of Tuesday, the organ that the parish bought 20 years ago at its own expense will be overhauled.

A complex affair: the whole instrument is dismantled, cleaned, reassembled and tuned again.

The work will probably take three weeks, says Barbara Weingand from the church administration.

During this time, however, it is not quiet in the Waller nave: the parish has organized an organ replacement device for the accompaniment of songs at church services. "And we will look in October to make the church services particularly musical, with musicians from the town and the region," announced Weingand. The men, who otherwise like to turn onto the gallery immediately after the entrance at the masses, have to find a place down in the rows of seats during the work: The gallery serves as a store for the organ parts. “On the second floor” - that is, where the organ itself is normally set up - “there is no room for it”, Weingand asks for understanding.

The parish can fall back on an expert from its own ranks: the son of church caretaker Martin Höller is himself an organ builder. He came specially from Switzerland to do the work and stayed at his parents' house during that time. Weingand estimates the costs for the general overhaul should therefore be around a moderate 20,000 euros, because the municipality can save the costs for accommodation or long journeys.

“Of course we have to expect a few repairs to be made,” says Weingand, “but we've got everything done so far.” After all, the Waller are an extremely resourceful parish.

Therefore, she can also shoulder the costs of the general overhaul, which she only has to bear herself.

On the one hand with funds from the association.

On the other hand, from the surplus that is still left over from the sale of the “Waller Leibspeisen” book in 2010 for the renovation of the church roof.
