Several migrants have died on the border between Poland and Belarus in recent weeks.

Now the ruler of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has rejected responsibility for it.

The situation is exacerbated by the actions of border guards in neighboring countries, said the 67-year-old.

He spoke of a "very unfavorable situation" on the border with the EU.

At a meeting with the border guards, Lukashenko claimed that the neighboring states had embarked on a course of confrontation with Belarus.

According to Lukashenko, Belarus is looking after 32 migrants who have been stuck at the border for two months.

“You don't want to stay in Belarus.

You insist on going to Germany. "

The governments of the EU states Poland, Lithuania and Latvia accuse Lukashenko of bringing refugees from crisis regions to the EU's external border in an organized manner.

They assume that the Belarusian regime will retaliate against EU sanctions decisions.

State of emergency in Poland is to be extended

According to the border guards, three people have died on the Polish side so far.

According to the Polish border guards, the public prosecutor's office has already started investigations into the deaths.

The information provided by the border guards cannot be independently verified, as Poland has declared a state of emergency in the border region with Belarus.

It applies to a three-kilometer-wide strip along the border.

Journalists are not allowed in, and representatives of aid organizations cannot help the refugees either.

Poland's Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński announced on Monday that he would campaign for the government to ask the president to extend the state of emergency.

It should initially apply for another 60 days.

An extension is only possible with the consent of Parliament.

The situation at the border is serious, said Kamiński.

"There are a number of provocative incidents involving uniformed Belarusian forces and attempts to violate the integrity of our border." He also referred to alleged evidence of links between 50 migrants and radical Islamist or criminal organizations.
