Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the members of the quintet who headed the party list of United Russia to the last Duma elections will take over the specialized party committees formed by the party.
During his meeting today with the members of the quintet, namely Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov, chief physician of the Komonarka Hospital for the treatment of coronavirus Denis Protsenko, co-chair of the All-Russian People's Front Yelena Shmilova and Commissioner for Children's Rights of the Russian Federation Anna Kuznetsova, Putin said, "Shoigu will chair the Party Committee for the Development of Eastern Siberia." Lavrov chairs the Committee on International Cooperation and Care of Russian Citizens Abroad.
"Protsenko will chair the Health Committee, Shmelova will chair the Education and Science Committee, and Kuznetsova will chair the Committee on the Protection of Motherhood, Childhood and Family Welfare in the United Russia party," Putin added.
Putin expressed his confidence that the formation of party committees contributes to the organization of work so that all the promises made by the United Russia party to itself in the course of the election campaign are implemented.
It is noteworthy that Kremlin sources indicated, after the results of the elections to the State Duma in its eighth legislative session, that the members of the quintet who headed the United Russia List and who won the elections are the ones who decide whether to move to serve as deputies in the State Duma or remain in their current positions.
