Munich - No direct candidate of the CSU could claim a better first vote result in the federal election in 2021 than Emmi Zeulner.
The 34-year-old was able to get 47.8 percent of the first votes in her constituency of Kulmbach and thus move into the German Bundestag for another legislative period with a lead of over 30 percentage points over the runner-up.

After the election, however, Zeulner was not only happy about her strong result, but also harshly criticized CDU veteran and Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble for his role in Armin Laschet's candidacy for chancellor.

Schäuble, who has been a member of the German Bundestag without interruption since 1972, had clearly sided with Armin Laschet in the internal power struggle of the Union parties.
His commitment to the debate about the Union's candidacy for chancellor is considered to be decisive for Markus Söder's eventual renunciation of the candidacy.
The Bavarian Prime Minister also mentioned Schäuble's name in the ARD summer interview when asked about his greatest rival.
