The Union of Arab Writers, in cooperation with the University of Damascus and the Levant Land Foundation, held a signing ceremony for the book Imam Hussein and the Horizons of the Future (Contemporary Reading).
In his speech, the President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdeen, pointed out the importance of publishing the book and its evidence of things that were ambiguous, especially at the level of culture, and asked the Union of Writers to repeat the phenomenon.
The head of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, said that there is a problem with reading the historical event, and we urgently need to rewrite history in its correct form, and we do not leave any trace for the misguided.
Dr. Hussein Gomaa, co-author of the book, spoke about Hussein's suffering from pain and hatred, his insistence on the truth, his relationship with poets and intellectuals, and the importance of the conversations that took place between them.
In his turn, Dr. Alaa Zaatari, a professor at the University of Damascus, stated that Imam Hussein is a professor of resistance and sacrifice and a firm belief in just work without bias to error and hates hatred, power and injustice.
At the same time, Dr. Muhammad Muhammad Hosni Diab drew attention to the role of Al-Hussein in perpetuating love and that he does not differentiate between anyone and is a just cultural system.
The writer Daoud Abu Shakra referred to what writers and poets said about him and how much social importance it was.
As for the poet Muhammad Hassan Ali, he spoke of what Westerners and foreign writers said about Imam Hussein, as the English writer Charles Dickens said.. Reason judges that Hussein sacrificed only for the sake of peace and cited other writers and presidents.
The book included 14 papers by different authors: Dr. Ibrahim Abdel Karim, Dr. Jihad Bekfaloni, poet Muhammad Hassan Ali, Daoud Abu Shakra, Dr. Nabil Halbawi, Dr. Alaa El Din Zaatari, Dr. Ibrahim Saeed, Dr. Hani El Khoury, Mohamed Hosni Diab, Mohamed Reda Hatem, Dr. Hussein Jumaa and Hussein Shehadeh, and presented by Dr. Mohamed Hourani.
