The president of the departmental council and about thirty mayors, deputies and senators of all stripes ask the Prime Minister to receive

They are 36, president of the departmental council, mayors, deputies or senators, from left as from right. Four days after the controversial evacuation of drug addicts from the Eole Gardens to Place Auguste-Baron, on the edge of Pantin and Aubervilliers, elected officials from Seine-Saint-Denis from all sides put their political differences aside to send together an open letter addressed to Jean Castex. "It is unacceptable that such a decision [was] taken in haste and without consultation, placing elected officials and residents before an unbearable fait accompli", protest the signatories.

They condemn with one voice "the choice made by the Minister of the Interior and the Paris police chief to move the problem to Seine-Saint-Denis - as is unfortunately too often the case. -, to the utter contempt of its inhabitants who have just as much right to serenity as the others.

"

They also criticize, as did many residents who gathered on rue Magenta in Pantin this weekend, the choice of the Porte de la Villette to displace crack users.

“Why did you choose this location when there are others, with similar configurations, in the west of Paris?

"

“Contrary to the argument put forward by the Ministry of the Interior to justify this decision, the place chosen to settle drug addicts is close to homes, more precisely the Quatre-Chemins district of Pantin and Aubervilliers, the 'one of the poorest neighborhoods in France (…), they note.

Why did you choose this location when there are others, with similar configurations, in the west of Paris for example?

"

Denouncing "a measure purely and solely of public order", the 35 elected officials also believe that "it is absolutely necessary to back up these evacuations with medico-social support measures, in particular in connection with hospitals, and to emergency accommodation arrangements.

"

In the hours which followed the police operation, the mayor of Pantin Bertrand Kern (PS) had already expressed his indignation, questioning Gerald Darmanin. "By this decision, the Minister of the Interior tramples on local elected officials and wipes his feet on Seine-Saint-Denis," he blurted out. He opted for the worst solution: that of adding misery to misery. This choice testifies to a real incompetence, it is quite simply shameful! "

Bertrand Kern then demanded "an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister", as did his counterpart from Aubervilliers Karine Franclet (UDI). A request joined by the other elected sequano-Dionysian signatories of the open letter. "We ask you, Mr. Prime Minister, to receive the mayors of Pantin and Aubervilliers as well as a delegation of elected officials concerned, to then take the necessary measures", they write.

The list of signatories of the open letter: Stéphane Troussel (president of the Department of Seine-Saint-Denis), Karine Franclet (mayor of Aubervilliers), Bertrand Kern (mayor of Pantin), Marie-George Buffet (MP), Éric Coquerel (deputy), Alexis Corbière (deputy), Bastien Lachaud (deputy), Jean-Christophe Lagarde (deputy), Stéphane Peu (deputy), Alain Ramadier (deputy), Éliane Assassi (senator), Vincent Capo-Canellas (senator) , Gilbert Roger (senator), Patrice Bessac (president of Est Ensemble and mayor of Montreuil), Bruno Beschizza (president of Paris Terres d'Envol and mayor of Aulnay-sous-Bois), Mathieu Hanotin (president of Plaine Commune and mayor of Saint-Denis), Laurent Baron (mayor of Pré-Saint-Gervais), Lionel Benharous (mayor of Lilas), Stéphane Blanchet (mayor of Sevran), Jean-Michel Bluteau (mayor of Villemomble),Jean-Baptiste Borsali (mayor of Le Bourget), Karim Bouamrane (mayor of Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine), Hervé Chevreau (mayor of Épinay-sur-Seine), François Dechy (mayor of Romainville), Tony Di Martino (mayor de Bagnolet), Dieunor Excellent (mayor of Villetaneuse), Michel Fourcade (mayor of Pierrefitte-sur-Seine), Quentin Gesell (mayor of Dugny), Mohamed Gnabaly (mayor of Île-Saint-Denis), Stephen Hervé (mayor de Bondy), Olivier Klein (mayor of Clichy-sous-Bois), Aude Lagarde (mayor of Drancy), Pierre-Yves Martin (mayor of Livry-Gargan), Gilles Poux (mayor of La Courneuve), Olivier Sarraberyrouse (mayor of Noisy-le-Sec) and Eric Shlegel (mayor of Gournay-sur-Marne)Dieunor Excellent (mayor of Villetaneuse), Michel Fourcade (mayor of Pierrefitte-sur-Seine), Quentin Gesell (mayor of Dugny), Mohamed Gnabaly (mayor of Île-Saint-Denis), Stephen Hervé (mayor of Bondy), Olivier Klein (mayor of Clichy-sous-Bois), Aude Lagarde (mayor of Drancy), Pierre-Yves Martin (mayor of Livry-Gargan), Gilles Poux (mayor of La Courneuve), Olivier Sarraberyrouse (mayor of Noisy-le- Sec) and Eric Shlegel (mayor of Gournay-sur-Marne)Dieunor Excellent (mayor of Villetaneuse), Michel Fourcade (mayor of Pierrefitte-sur-Seine), Quentin Gesell (mayor of Dugny), Mohamed Gnabaly (mayor of Île-Saint-Denis), Stephen Hervé (mayor of Bondy), Olivier Klein (mayor of Clichy-sous-Bois), Aude Lagarde (mayor of Drancy), Pierre-Yves Martin (mayor of Livry-Gargan), Gilles Poux (mayor of La Courneuve), Olivier Sarraberyrouse (mayor of Noisy-le- Sec) and Eric Shlegel (mayor of Gournay-sur-Marne)Olivier Sarraberyrouse (mayor of Noisy-le-Sec) and Eric Shlegel (mayor of Gournay-sur-Marne)Olivier Sarraberyrouse (mayor of Noisy-le-Sec) and Eric Shlegel (mayor of Gournay-sur-Marne)
