The indicator had lost two points in July and again two points in August, settling at 99 last month.
The increase in the index in September is the result in particular of greater optimism on the part of households regarding their standard of living over the next twelve months and the trend in unemployment.
General renewed optimism
French households are showing more confidence in their future financial situation. Households' balance of opinion on their future savings capacity also rebounded, by three points. However, the one relating to their current savings capacity fell by one point, as did the one on the opportunity to save. These three balances, however, remain at a level markedly above the long-term average.
In September, the proportion of households who consider that the standard of living in France will improve over the next twelve months is also up sharply.
The corresponding balance increases by eleven points, thus returning above its long-term average, indicates the INSEE.
The same renewed confidence in employment: household fears about the trend in unemployment are on the decline.
