After the commercial area, it is the most important urban development project in Hallbergmoos: the sports and leisure park.

Now the piece of jewelry was ten years old.

Invited representatives from politics, society and clubs came to the ceremony in the neat, open marquee on the green meadow near the sports forum. Including District Administrator Helmut Petz, who as mayor candidate at the time witnessed the development first hand. Like him, Mayor Josef Niedermair (CSU) also reminded that the dimensions were politically disputed at the time. The time should prove the proponents of a "large" park right: From today's point of view, according to the district administrator, the "urban-political decision" was for dynamic growth and a 25 million investment in the 16 hectare public park with integrated sports facilities - from the football stadium to the central building with bowling alleys, gymnastics and shooting halls to cribs, playgrounds and ponds - “courageous and correct”.

From the first land acquisition in 1994 to the inauguration in 2011

This was also underscored by former mayor Klaus Stallmeister, who retraced the story in a dialogue with the mayor Josef Niedermair, who was then involved as local councilor at the time and who is now mayor: from the first land purchase in 1994 through the 20-year planning and construction history to the inauguration in 2011. It was important to "act instead of to." react, ”Stallmeister emphasized.

And to counter the surge in growth to 15,000 inhabitants caused by the opening of the airport - by creating recreational areas and at the same time a link between the place and the business park, between living and working.

With an area that is “50 to 50” dedicated to citizens and athletes.

Pastors Thomas Gruber and Steffen Schubert underlined in the ecumenical service how important the park is for the local community: Although it is located on the geographical edge of the town, the area has a "heart" character and is a place where people and generations meet.

Now an attractive place and starting point for sporting successes

The mayor thanked the clubs that made the park what it is: an attractive place and a starting point for sporting success. For example, for the entry of VfB bowlers and stick shooters into the Bundesliga and footballers into the Bayernliga. Much noticed sporting events like the 2017 German Archery Championship took place and are still taking place. "Motivation for young people comes from top athletic performance," says Niedermair, but recreational sports and social interaction are also important pillars that are consolidated at the Indoor Cup, the Long Night of Sports and many tournaments.

The town hall chief also took a look into the future: he is convinced that the planned natural bathing pond would fit perfectly into this park, which is also the municipality's “green lung”.

A tennis hall will also be considered in the near future.
