The worst year the United States has witnessed in terms of levels of gun violence and homicides in decades, with 2021 exceeding all record rates recorded in previous years to be a bloody year with distinction as a result of the phenomenon of carrying arms, lack of discipline and unrestrained freedom that comes within the framework of the concept of modern liberalism prevailing in Western societies.

Statistics conducted by the American “Archive on Gun Violence” and recently published by CNN indicate that 14,516 Americans were killed as a result of the gun chaos between January 1 and September 15, with an increase of 9 percent or 1,300 deaths compared to the same period in 2020.

The rate of mass shootings is also on the rise, according to the organization's data, as well as homicides, which recorded an average increase of 23 percent in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year.

In a related context, an official report of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) revealed the largest increase in murders in the United States since the bureau began monitoring and counting those crimes since the 1960s.

The report showed a 30 percent increase in homicides during 2020 compared to 2019, and a 5 percent increase in violent crimes between 2019 and 2020.

The report counted the commission of more than 21,500 murders during the past year, a number that the Bureau of Investigation has not monitored since the mid-1990s, while the homicide rate in 2020 was about 6.5 per 100,000 people. The report confirms that the number of murders last year began to escalate during Summer months peaked in June and July and remained at high levels thereafter.

In parallel with the rise in gun violence, sales of arms and ammunition are increasing in America, as official data showed that Americans bought a record 23 million weapons last year, a significant increase of 65 percent compared to 2019, against the backdrop of increasing manifestations of racial discrimination and racial hate crimes.

At the beginning of this year, arms sales continued to rise, with 2.2 million weapons sold in January alone.

With the spread of the phenomenon of carrying arms, which is guaranteed by the American Constitution without setting precise controls for it, murders and violence have become increasingly common among Americans. A pistol in a loved one's bag was shot in the head by mistake.
