GAP - traditional and incense plants, witchcraft, protective and homeopathic herbs, magic, fragrance and love plants are housed in the magic herb garden in the Michael-Ende-Kurpark.

Inaugurated on August 15, 2012, the facility with fountain and benches cost around 38,000 euros - the whole thing was financed by donations and the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Tourist Association (FVV).

A piece of jewelery for which the University of Würzburg even provided specialist advice. Thanks to this competence, attention was always drawn to the “Medicinal Plant of the Year” in the beginning. The community gardening, especially gardener Günter Hensel, lovingly tended the well-signposted and instructive magic herb garden for many years. The tourist association finally donated the facility to the community in 2016. It had long since become a popular and interesting point of attraction for park visitors. But all of that is in the past! "In the meantime the herb garden is neglected, the benches are overgrown, the fountain has not bubbled for a long time and weeds are overgrowing the plants," says Peter Ries, 1st chairman of the FVV, summarizing the current situation.St. John's wort or ribwort is searched in vain among grass and thistles.

Association member Heiko Düsterhöft, who had the idea and project management for the whole thing, is plagued by an even greater concern: “Since some explanatory information boards are now missing, poisonous plants can no longer be identified. A risk. ”In the past, the active members of the FVV had drawn attention to the misery several times. They had always been put off with illnesses and a lack of labor. Now Ries has come to the town hall again. "The second mayor Claudia Zolk has promised to take care of the matter as soon as possible," he says. Something else pissed off the volunteers: In the Kneipp year, the local council decided to take care of the existing facilities and to renew them. That only happened partially.

The water wheel in the Mühlgraben in the Michael-Ende-Kurpark is splashing again, the Kneipp pool there can be used, but the fallen fence was not repaired, but replaced by an unsightly construction fence.

The planned planting with the appropriate Kneipp herbs and plants - "We wanted to cover the costs", according to Düsterhöft - did not take place.

Here, too, everything makes an unkempt impression.

"That is unworthy of a health resort," says Ries.

One thing is certain for the FVV activists: They want to stay tuned and no longer watch how systems that have cost money, hours of work, for which a lot of voluntary work has been done, simply go to waste.

After all, they came up to beautify the place!
