The certificate of incapacity for work will be changed on October 1, 2021.

What you should know about the "yellow AU certificate" for reporting sickness.

  • There is an important change in the

certificate of incapacity for work 2021

    .

  • The “

    yellow ticket

    ” for reporting

    incapacity for work

    (

    AU

    ) will be abolished.

  • What employees should know.

Frankfurt - The

certificate of

incapacity for work

(AU certificate) is becoming increasingly important again, especially in times of the Corona.

No wonder, because in such a pandemic, many leave the safe side from the

doctor

or the

doctor

sick leave - for fear of possible infection Corona *.

And it can have many faces.

In 2021, there will be

serious changes to the

AU certificate

for

employees

.

Because then it says: “

Yellow glow

” goodbye.

But how will you be on sick leave in the future?

AU certificate: This will change in 2021 for the certificate of incapacity for work

Farewell to the "

yellow note

".

From 2021 onwards, the certificate of

incapacity

for

work

on paper

should be the end of it

.

The bureaucracy is to be slimmed down as a result.

So far, there was the

doctor

or

health care professional

for employees: inside an

AU bill

in triplicate.

A certificate then had to be forwarded to the manager as quickly as possible.

The second AU certificate went to the

health insurance company

and the last was intended for the employee's own documents.

But this effort should come to

an end in

2021

.

On May 19, 2019, the “Act for Faster Appointments and Better Care” (Appointment Service and Supply Act, TSVG *) came into force.

In it, among other things, a change to the regulation around the

AU certificate was

specified.

From 2021, doctors will then be obliged

to send

the data on

their patients'

incapacity

to

work

directly and digitally to the sick person's health insurance company.

This eliminates the tedious task of sending the

AU certificate

to the health insurance company.

But when exactly will the change in the

certificate of incapacity for work take

effect in

2021

?

A digitization of the yellow

AU certificate was

actually

planned for January 1st.

From this point on, it should be compulsory for doctors to send the sick note to the health insurance company.

But as the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) reports, this will hardly be possible.

“However, the

technology

required for this

will not be available across the board in good time for all

practices and health insurance companies

.

In addition, both sides are heavily burdened by the corona pandemic, "says the KBV website.

Certificate of incapacity for work (AU certificate): When the change will come into force in 2021

Therefore, it was decided with the Federal Ministry of Health and the

health insurance companies

to postpone this change in the AU certificate.

Instead of January, the mandatory

date

will be

postponed

by three quarters to

October 1, 2021

.

Changes to the AU certificate: does it have to be handed in to executives?

You have to its certificate of

incapacity

continue also in 2021 even with the

employer

or the

employer

deliver?

The KBV also commented on this.

Accordingly, the electronic AU (

eAU

) was actually planned to be sent on January 1, 2022.

But nothing will come of it, because this date has also been postponed.

Employees will

probably have to hand in

their

AU certificate

themselves by

July 1, 2022

.

Because here, too, the delay in the technology makes an earlier appointment impossible, according to the KBV on its website.

The planned

changes to the certificate of incapacity for work

in detail:

  • From October 1, 2021, the AU data will be transmitted electronically to the health insurance companies.

  • From July 1, 2022, the health insurances will send the AU to employers in electronic form: inside.

Changes to the AU certificate in 2021: off for the "yellow certificate"

Why is it actually called “

yellow glow

”?

This rather colloquial paraphrase for the

certificate

of

incapacity for work

comes

hence the fact that the medical certificates that employees previously received were printed on yellow paper.

Saying goodbye to the printed version of the

AU

then also means saying goodbye to the “yellow note”.

But in order to have to do a little less paperwork, some

employees

probably say

goodbye,

and so

employees

like to

say

goodbye.
