The Independent Commission Against Corruption today (28th) filed a lawsuit against a senior branch manager of Centaline Property, accusing her of receiving a bribe of 50,000 yuan from a subordinate to assist the other party in a private residential transaction in Saigon.
The female defendant was granted bail by the ICAC, pending a plea in Sha Tin Magistracy on Thursday (30th).

The 45-year-old defendant, Yang Jiali, was a senior branch manager of a branch of Centaline Property in Saigon at the time of the case. He was responsible for managing the overall operation of the branch and supervising a group of real estate agents.
The ICAC stated that it had initiated an investigation after receiving a corruption complaint. After the investigation was completed, it sought legal advice from the Department of Justice, and prosecuted the real estate agent in accordance with the relevant legal advice. Article 9(1)(a).
The charge alleges that on or about September 18, 2019, without legal authority or reasonable excuse, the defendant received 50,000 yuan from a subordinate estate agent as an assistance in a sale of a private residential property in Sai Kung. Incentives or rewards for the subordinate.
The ICAC investigation revealed that Centaline Real Estate paid more than 120,000 yuan in sales commissions to the real estate agent and more than 40,000 yuan in supervisor commissions to the defendant for the above-mentioned property transactions on the same day.
Centaline Property prohibits branch managers from soliciting and accepting benefits for providing assistance to their real estate agents in any property transaction.
