Munich - Whether rental bike, e-bike or e-scooter: If you want to be mobile in the big city, there are various options available.

The ADAC compared the offers in the three metropolises of Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, the result: The rental fees for electric bicycles are usually more than twice as high as for normal bicycles.

The offers for bicycles in Munich were particularly cheap: on average, the first 15 minutes on a classic rental bike cost 1.35 euros, an e-bike cost an average of 3.08 euros.

In Hamburg, the spontaneous use of a rental bike without a basic fee was not possible; an e-bike cost an average of 3.85 euros in the first quarter of an hour.

In Berlin there was a classic rental bike for 1.40 euros per quarter of an hour, e-bikes were on average four euros more expensive than in the comparable cities.

E-scooters, on the other hand, were the most expensive in Munich.

Customers paid an average of EUR 3.44 for 15 minutes.

In Hamburg the trip was a little cheaper at 3.35 euros, in Berlin 3.28 euros were due.

For the comparison, ADAC analyzed the prices displayed in the providers' apps on May 7th and 8th, one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon.

There were follow-up surveys in August and September due to the strong dynamism of the market.

Only providers from whom customers could spontaneously borrow a means of transport without paying a basic fee were taken into account.
