Hama-Sana
The elements and mechanisms of the Hama Fire Brigade, the Directorate of Agriculture and the Forest Protection Center in Masyaf, in cooperation with the units of the Syrian Arab Army, managed this evening to put out a fire that broke out in the forests of the village of Al-Hailuna in the Masyaf area in the western Hama countryside.
Colonel Thaer Al-Hassan, commander of the Hama Fire Brigade, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the fire was controlled and put out after a few hours with strenuous efforts exerted by the firefighting crews, despite the strong winds and the rugged terrain of the area and the inability of the vehicles to reach the sites of the fire.
For his part, Engineer Madin Al-Ali, head of the Forest Protection Center in Masyaf, said that the fire was controlled by 90 percent, and the hotbeds of the fire are currently being cooled, and that the site of the fire will be monitored during the next 24 hours for fear of its outbreak again.
The mountain forests in the western Hama countryside witness annually the outbreak of many fires due to their intensity, which causes the loss of large areas of forest wealth and agricultural fields due to the ruggedness of the area and the difficulty of firefighting vehicles reaching it to deal with these fires in a timely manner.
