Going on a trip is all laughter, plans and illusions until… you have to pack your suitcase.
When packing for a trip, you have most likely asked yourself: What am I taking?
Do I have anything left?
Whether it is a weekend getaway, or if you are traveling for a month in Europe or Southeast Asia, there are essential elements that, if you have them, can be a headache.
There are many tutorials that tell you how to fold shirts, where to store socks to take advantage of space, among other techniques.
But the previous step is much more basic: what to pack.
Here is a list that you can check off each time you go to travel.
This is the guide with the new travel requirements to the US from November
Documents
If it is a local trip, you may only need your identity document, but when crossing borders, you will need your passport and probably travel insurance in case of illness or accidents.

Also: are you going to drive?
Do they get cash or did the covid-19 era make it all digital?
Will you have GPS or do you want to disconnect and need a map?
Do you need proof of covid-19 or vaccination to enter?
Based on what you answer to those questions, check that it doesn't fit:
Passport and / or identity document
Driving license
Credit / debit cards
Cash
Map / travel guide
Travel insurance
Vaccination certificates / tests
Technology
You may want to take your super camera with various lenses and accessories to take the best photos of each place you visit, but you will most likely also use your cell phone, so you don't want to forget the charger.
Also, keep in mind that the plugs and voltages vary by country, so you would need an adapter (and not all of them work everywhere).
So check if you have:
Charger (cell phone, tablet, computer and all the electronics you want to travel with you)
Headphones
Universal adapter
Camera or GoPro and its accessories
And do not miss a physical book, an ebook or a magazine.
