This is a move that marks Tehran's insistence on continuing to gallop forward with the development of the nuclear program despite its declaration of its intention to return in the coming weeks to negotiations on the United States' return to the nuclear deal between Iran and the powers, signed in 2015.
Russia is currently assisting Iran in making upgrades to the Barak nuclear reactor, upgrades required by the nuclear deal to ensure that the reactor could not be used as a uranium enrichment plant for nuclear weapons.
However, it is unclear whether the work carried out by Tehran does indeed meet the required standard and experts fear that even after the completion of the upgrade work at the facility, it could serve in a variety of ways the Islamic Republic’s military nuclear program.

Russia has previously helped Iran obtain technology and equipment for its nuclear project and Russian companies have participated in the construction of the civilian reactor designed to generate electricity in the city of Bushhar.
Despite clear steps Tehran has taken in the past to achieve military nuclear technology, the Iranian leadership insists that all its nuclear activities are for civilian and scientific purposes only.
Record tensions between Israel and Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett sharply attacked Iran yesterday as part of his speech at the UN General Assembly.
Iran's nuclear program has reached a watershed and so has our tolerance.

Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Majid Undervaranchi, issued a tweet criticizing Bennett after his remarks at the UN General Assembly, saying the speech was "full of lies".
"Iranophobia at the UN has reached a peak," he said.
