Damascus, SANA- The symposium held by the Damascus branch of the Union of Arab Writers focused on its monthly program “Discoveries” entitled “The World.”

The symposium held by the Damascus branch of the Arab Writers Union, in its monthly program Disclosures, focused on the relationship between constructive media and culture on the role of the media in shedding light on the transformations of culture and its variables, and on the role of culture in strengthening the media presence.

The head of the Damascus branch of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Ibrahim Zaarooz, pointed out in the introduction to the symposium the importance of the relationship between media and culture and the necessity of media presence because each of them complements the other, pointing to the need to adhere to the system, time and subject to start a correct start in dealing with culture and media.

Media writer Imad Nadaf explained that there are many mistakes caused by dealing with electronic means, especially after the paper media stopped due to the Corona pandemic, and it is necessary to strive to control all the repercussions that occurred in order for the media to maintain its correct path.

At the same time, the journalist Samer Al-Shugry said that steadfastness is necessary in the face of everything that is going on during this terrorist war that was imposed on us in order to preserve our culture and our media in their correct form, especially after the spread of social media, and this can only be by supporting our culture because one of the most important roles of the media is to shed light on Reality.

The journalist Jamal Al-Jaish pointed out that the media does not apply one word to it, because it has gone through multiple stages, and during these stages it excelled in many cases, and culture was one of its most important pillars. It affects the culture and the media because they are the basis of the national building.

A number of writers and intellectuals in attendance gave various interventions about what was presented at the symposium.

As for the director of the event, the poet Samar Taghbi, she got to know the participants and interviewed them, indicating that the media is the basis for social interaction and must be enriched with culture.
