The Russian Foreign Ministry mocked a proposal by US representatives in Congress to expel 300 Russian diplomats from their country, stressing that Moscow does not have this number of Russian diplomats in Washington.
Sputnik news agency quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement today that the US senators who proposed the expulsion of 300 Russian diplomats from their country are seeking to close US foreign missions in Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also confirmed that there are no such number of Russian diplomats in Washington, and asked whether members of Congress who lack good knowledge in international relations also counted the Russian diplomatic staff working in the Permanent Mission to the United Nations?
The Russian-American diplomatic relations are experiencing tension due to the pressure exerted by Washington on the work of the Russian missions and its refusal to facilitate their procedures and not granting them entry visas to the United States.
