A14 opponents have been occupying a forest in the Altmark for about six months.

Politicians failed in their attempt to evacuate the protest camp.

The district is now publishing a new ruling.

Stendal / Seehausen - The district of Stendal has issued a new general decree against the forest occupiers in the Losser Forest near Seehausen. Essentially, the paper that the German Press Agency received in advance on Tuesday is about proof of security measures. These include, for example, the stability of the tree houses and platforms, sufficient escape routes and fire protection. Environmental protection requirements are also discussed. If the conditions are not met, the camp could be evacuated.

The district justifies the requirements, among other things, with the fact that the trees would not be felled before 2025 and that the safety of the buildings is not sufficiently ensured due to the long-term nature.

In addition, during an inspection, they found obstructed paths due to lines and banners and insufficient fire protection.

The district also complains about poor accessibility and lack of responsibilities on the part of the meeting participants, which is why a leader should be named in the future.

It is assumed that the order will be complied with, said a spokeswoman for the district.

However, it did not rule out that the occupiers could also take legal action against these conditions.

A first general ruling from mid-June was overturned. It stipulated that the camp would be removed if structures such as Bauhaus buildings continued to be built or used. The occupiers had taken action against this and had invoked the right of assembly. In the first instance they got the right from the administrative court in Magdeburg. The district's complaint was then rejected a few days later by the Higher Administrative Court in Magdeburg. From the point of view of the courts, the camp was covered by the freedom of assembly.

According to the police, up to twenty people were at times in the trees in the Losser Forest.

They are protesting against the north extension of the A14 between the Magdeburg and Schwerin motorway junctions.

The police could not say exactly how many people are currently still in the forest.

The situation is essentially the same, said a spokesman.

About a week and a half ago, more protesters had set up a camp about twenty kilometers south of Storbeck (Stendal district).

According to the police, it is much smaller than the camp near Seehausen.

The district announced that another decree would be issued for Storbeck after examination within the framework of the right of assembly.

Since every meeting is an individual case, the general decree from Wednesday does not apply there.
