Augsburg / Mörfelden-Walldorf - Three main accused had been arrested with an arrest warrant.

They are accused of smuggling foreigners in for commercial purposes and as a gang, as well as withholding and embezzling wages in particularly serious cases, said the public prosecutor and customs in Augsburg.

Via fictitious work contracts with companies in Serbia and Slovenia, personnel were recruited and deployed nationwide on large construction sites.

Almost 300,000 euros in cash had been secured, it said.

In order not to endanger the ongoing investigation, no further information would be given.
