The government of Romanian Prime Minister Florin Seto of the ruling National Liberal Party today lost confidence after passing a vote to block it from his government by an overwhelming majority, exacerbating the current political crisis in the country.
And the Associated Press quoted Romanian President Klaus Iohannis as saying that it is a crisis generated by politicians, and we are now in the midst of the pandemic of the fourth wave of the Corona virus, which has affected us severely, as we are in an energy price crisis, and what politicians are doing is adding another crisis.
The motion was passed by 281 votes, although only 234 votes were sufficient.
President Iohannis will consult parliament on the appointment of a new prime minister, while Seto may remain at the head of the government as caretaker for 45 days and can be reappointed if lawmakers twice fail to agree on a new prime minister.
The ongoing crisis is hampering Romania's efforts to address the alarming rise in the number of coronavirus infections in that country of 19 million people, putting the country's hospitals under serious pressure.
