The SPD parliamentary group leader in the Brandenburg state parliament, Erik Stohn, is giving up his office.
He wanted to get involved in the talks in Berlin after the federal election, announced Stohn on Tuesday.
"The SPD was able to achieve a very good election result in Brandenburg and in East Germany," he said in explanation.

Stohn did not name a time for this.
Keller explained that talks would first have to be held about the successor to his office.
The 35-year-old only entered the state parliament in 2019.
Stohn did not want to comment specifically on his new role in Berlin.
In close coordination with Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD), he will “take care of himself” in the coming weeks, he said.
