"Saturday Night Live" back: How do you keep laughing when Trump is not being beaten? | Israel today

The American Temple of Satire seems to have a hard time producing comedy when its ultra-liberal writers support President Biden's agenda, and settle for light-hearted old jokes about him.

Saturday Night Live back - and in a nutshell.

With a disappointing lead guest in the form of Owen Wilson, with a cast that does not momentarily recall the glorious days that ended somewhere in Will Pearl, and without Donald Trump, the oldest sketch show in the world presented a pale and weak season opener.

Ironically, Trump's lack is actually the significant change the program will suffer from this year.

Based on the first episode (Tuesday on yes VOD, Saturday on yes Comedy), it seems that the Temple of America's satire will suffer the removal of Trump from our lives, who served as the ultra-liberal writers of the perfect Pinata show to beat her vigorously and mercilessly.

After a few seasons around the perfect imitation of Alec Baldwin for Trump, Democratic Sleepy Joe stepped into the big shoes, not by chance - with a lot of empathy from the show’s producer.

From the first seconds of the opening sketch, sin and its punishment cry out to heaven: Have you taken a political side and eliminated it?

Now try to produce a comedy from the enraged Biden.

Satire programs that have taken a distinct stance in an effort to change the government that did not fit their agenda (who said "Great Country"? I) will have a real problem criticizing those who supported it.

In the opening episode of the 47th season of "SNL" it comes down to light-hearted old jokes and criticism at the level of Bennett's parrot bite.

To the average Israeli viewer, most sketches and jokes go through our heads due to our cultural and entertainment distance from the daily lives of Americans.

Still, the fact that each week hosts a different Hollywood star who takes part in the show, and especially the opening monologue that usually promises and delivers, justifies a weekly peek at the iconic show.

The part that still serves as a gem on the show is the "Weekend Update" corner, where you can enjoy a pair of presenters Colin Jost and Michael Che, one deprived black and the other white Privilege, who stick every punch perfectly while laughing at themselves in politically correct territory.

By the way, they are also the ones responsible for the antisemitic storm caused by the show in Israel following the last episode last season, when Michael Che said: "Israel reported this week that half of its population was vaccinated against corona. Let me guess - this is the Jewish half" Could have worked even today.
