Home office and the time spent at home with it all seemed suitable for accommodating a four-legged friend.
But since the lockdown is over and more and more relaxations are the order of the day, the beloved fur nose often turns into a suddenly annoying appendage.

“It's a bit like summer vacation”, compares Manuela Ravara, director of the Josefa Burger animal shelter in Gelting.
"Suddenly the animal becomes uncomfortable." She reports on the large animal shelters in cities.
"Both the consequences of the pandemic and the summer vacation can be felt here." That means that at best the animals are given up here, at worst exposed.
If they are lucky, they will be found and find their way to the rescue center.
The Josefa Burger animal shelter does not have to struggle with these problems.
“Nothing was picked up or returned from us - no dog, no cat, no mouse.” And the few animals that were conveyed came to places that were already known and “we are sure that there will be no returns Ravara shrugs.

“I think there was a lot going on on the internet with dogs in particular,” she says, pointing out another aspect.
"The dog schools were also closed - so how is the animal supposed to learn correct behavior when master or mistress is completely inexperienced?"
The new registrations prove that the number of dog owners has increased.
"While there were 112 dogs in 2019", we hear from Wolfratshausen, "an additional 146 animals were registered in 2020." The bottom line, however, is that the total number has not increased excessively, since cancellations due to moving or because the dog has died, must be taken into account.
"In 2019 there were 806 dogs in Loisachstadt, in 2020 there were 859."

Manager Ute Raach takes a look at the dog tax.
“In 2018 and 2019 we were pretty much the same with revenues of around 48,500 euros, but in 2020 it was already 51,000 euros.” The greatest increase will be recorded in 2021: “Here we are now at 55,400 euros.
A whopping increase of ten percent - even though the dog tax has not been increased. ”This will only be decided from next year.
Although the fees per dog and the same owner are staggered (40/80/120 euros), "these figures speak for themselves - especially since not everyone has a second or even third dog."
