District - According to the supplier, the first mobile air purification systems for the schools in the Ostallgäu district are to be delivered next Friday - and thus earlier than expected despite general delivery difficulties.

“I am particularly pleased that we are on schedule so well for the students and teachers at our schools.

We can offer you a bit more security more quickly, ”says District Administrator Maria Rita Zinnecker.

As reported, the district committee discussed the purchase of air filter devices for the district schools in July.

After a detailed coordination of the requirements with the schools in the district, an engineering office was called in to determine the technical criteria of the devices and to professionally examine the offers.

Fixed ventilation systems are already installed in six of the eleven district school locations: in the Buchloe grammar school, in the secondary schools in Buchloe, Füssen, Marktoberdorf and Obergünzburg as well as in the Kaufbeuren agricultural and technical school. This means that the district is doing very well in a nationwide comparison, according to Zinnecker. The mobile air purification devices are now being installed at three of the five remaining schools (Erich-Kästner-Schule Füssen, Gymnasium Füssen and Don-Bosco-Schule Marktoberdorf). For the time being, no need has been seen for the two locations of the Ostallgäu vocational school in Marktoberdorf and in Füssen, as the schools are initially to be equipped with mostly younger students of non-vaccinable age, says press spokesman Stefan Leonhart.

After the announcement of the funding program by the Bavarian State Government in July, the Bavarian District Association already pointed out that there could be time problems in the procurement of air purification devices due to technical evaluation and tendering.

The manufacturers of the air purification devices also pointed out delivery bottlenecks.

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder reported at the end of September that only 18 percent of the subsidies provided by the state had been called up for the purchase of air filters.

This is still not enough.

Only 1.6 percent of the subsidies for air filters were claimed by the daycare centers.

Söder appeals to the institutions to use the state's help in financing the filters, said Leonhart.
