In the future, detectives will monitor the recycling islands in Kirchseeon for 250 hours a year.
That has now been decided by the local council.
Kirchseeon This measure is intended to identify “rubbish sinners”.
Those caught face fines.
"This is an annoying topic," said Mayor Jan Paeplow (CSU).
The recycling islands are partly in a state where you have to shake your head.
"We have to act now."
There is a risk of fines
Thomas Kroll (SPD) agreed to this.
“I have always advocated going this route,” he emphasized.
"We're talking about bulky waste and used diapers."
The costs are estimated at around 13,700 euros.
Surcharges for Sundays, public holidays or follow-up surveillance were made after prior agreement.
The town hall will now look for a provider.
We have to act now
Mayor Jan Paeplow
Paeplow refers to the success of similar measures in Ebersberg and Poing.
Continuous monitoring by means of a permanently installed video camera should be dispensed with for reasons of data protection.
No permanent video surveillance
The detectives would provide pictures and videos. The polluter could then be convicted and fine proceedings initiated. Paeplow assumes that many trash sinners are repeat offenders who could perhaps be deterred with a fine. In addition, the municipality wants to create better ways to dispose of waste. The Greens want to wait and see whether this is successful before using surveillance. "We think that would make more sense," says Andrea Oberhauser-Hainer. “We can't always spend money.” Peter Kohl (CSU) was also worried about the costs and suspected that these would affect all citizens through the garbage fees. However, the mayor disagreed with this.
