Russia called on the United States to get rid of its chemical weapons, stressing in return its commitment to the Convention on the Prohibition of these weapons.
Russia Today website quoted the Russian Embassy in Washington as saying in a statement today that "Russia has complied with the agreements on chemical weapons that were signed in 2017, and destroyed all its stockpiles of these weapons," noting that this is documented by the Organization for the Prohibition of Arms, while the United States is still the only country in the world. The world has neither done so nor disposed of its large arsenal of chemical weapons.
The Russian embassy called on America to complete the chemical disarmament program as soon as possible and fulfill international obligations to make the world safe from the possible use of this type of weapon.
This statement comes as the US State Department, after four years of bans under former President Donald Trump, published the size of the US stockpile of nuclear warheads, indicating that the US military possesses 3,750 nuclear warheads that are activated or inactive.
