Suspicion of digital currency fraud: 26 arrested at the center in a joint operation with the FBI

Twenty-six residents of Gush Dan were arrested last night in Tel Aviv on suspicion of involvement in fraud and money laundering offenses, under the guise of trading foreign currency in digital currencies, the Israel Police announced this morning (Wednesday).
As part of the affair, which has been under investigation for the past month in collaboration with the FBI agency, the police suspect that they have deceived American citizens in the amount of tens of millions of shekels.

The investigation was opened following a report that arrived in Israel from the United States, on suspicion of fraud by dozens of people.
After investigators mapped out the array through which the suspects allegedly acted, 26 suspects were arrested in Israel - in parallel with an arrest operation in other countries around the world.
During the arrests, police confiscated computers and other digital storage media.
The two main suspects in the case, both residents of Gush Dan in their 30s, will be brought to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court today for a hearing on a request to extend their detention.
